Tottenham transfer target Sergino Dest admitted he could play for Jose Mourinho's side

Ajax right-back Sergino Dest has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and he has previously admitted that coming to north London could be an option in the future.

The 19-year-old Dutch-born USA international has had a breakthrough season for the Amsterdam side and has been linked with a switch to Spurs in the next transfer window, whenever that may come.

Dest, who has two years left on his current deal at Ajax, broke into the first team this season and has not looked back, becoming the first choice right-back.

He made 20 appearances in the Eredivisie, laying on five assists for team-mates, before the season was brought to an end due to the football shutdown across the globe.

Dest also made five Champions League appearances, three in qualifying, two Europa League appearances and played in four Dutch Cup games, scoring twice and laying on another assist.

Now Tottenham are believed to be interested in adding him to their ranks with question marks over the future of Kyle Walker-Peters, who is on loan at Southampton.

Current first choice right-back Serge Aurier asked to leave Spurs last summer but became first choice under Jose Mourinho during this campaign.

Tottenham are expected to look for a new right-back to bolster Mourinho's options and Dest was actually asked back in January whether he would play for Spurs.

The question came during an 'Ask Me Anything' session for Bleacher Report.

Twitter user @JoseMourinho asked: "Would you play for Tottenham? Please??"

The answer from the Ajax defender was a simple: "Maybe in the future."

Dest is certainly seen as one for the future and the coming months will show whether that will be end up being at Tottenham Hotspur.
