Tottenham transfer target coy on future as Tanguy Ndombele speculation mounts

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has further fuelled speculation of a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the next transfer window following an interview in Denmark that could have consequences for Tanguy Ndombele's future at te clu.

It was reported earlier this week that Spurs were keen on the Southampton midfielder, who is under contract until June 2021, with an increasing likehlihood that Ndombele is sold after just a season in North London.

Hojbjerg, a former pupil of Pep Guardiola's at Bayern Munich, said that his international team-mate Christian Eriksen has fond memories of his time at Spurs and while the 24-year-old remains focused on life at St Mary's for now he was coy regarding his future.

He was also linked with Tottenham in January.

“It’s a big club and I also think Christian Eriksen has positive memories from there,” Hojbjerg told Viaplay Sport Live.

“The most important thing is that I concentrate on Southampton and concentrate when the season starts again that I can continue where I left off. Whatever happens in the future, you have to take it as it comes.”

Hojbjerg has also recently changed agent and is now represented by Pini Zahavi, who has close links to Spurs.

Ndombele, who has been criticised by Jose Mourinho on a number of occasions during a campaign disrupted by fitness issues, has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

The 23-year-old joined Spurs from Lyon last summer in a deal worth £54million and is under contract until the summer of 2025.

He would not be allowed to leave the club cheaply and despite the links to Barca, the Catalan side are in a difficult financial position owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
