Tottenham transfer rumours: Spurs eye Real Madrid star, Toby Alderweireld targeted

Tottenham Hotspur set up a Carabao Cup final against Manchester City with their Tuesday night victory over Brentford. It ends what has been a rather productive first half of the season for Jose Mourinho's team.

But now in the midst of the January transfer window and with clubs looking to build on their positive starts or panic buy their way to safety, Spurs have much work to do, especially with respect to the stars already at the club.

With that in mind, we have an update on two current players, one who is reportedly eager to leave and the other who could sign a new contract.

We also have an update on a potential target, although a summer transfer now seems more likely.

Here is a round-up of the latest Tottenham transfer rumours.

Marine v Tottenham: FA Cup third-round preview

Spurs eye Eder Militao

Jose Mourinho has reportedly identified Real Madrid centre-back Eder Militao as a potential recruitment in January.

The defender has made just two appearances this season, and Mundo Deportivo report that Zinedine Zidane's preference for Nacho over the Brazil international means he could be allowed to leave.

If Spurs do get a deal done, it could be costly, with Real paying Porto a fee of €50million (£45million) in 2019.

The defender is 18 months into a six year contract, so it is unlikely Real will be allowing him to leave for too big a loss.

PSV make contact with Toby Alderweireld

PSV are said to be testing the waters for a potential move for Spurs centre-back Toby Alderweireld.

De Telegraaf state that the club made contact with his agent Stijn Francis to see whether the former Ajax player would contemplate a move to the Dutch club's rivals.

Alderweireld has been in good form for Spurs this season, and only signed a new contract at the end of 2019 that will keep him in North London until 2023.

Whether or not he would be tempted in a move to PSV remains to be seen.

Spurs open to Winks loan to Valencia

Spurs are said to be open to allowing Harry Winks to leave on loan, with Valencia reportedly interested in the midfielder.

However, there are a couple of barriers to the deal. According to AS, Spurs are asking for a loan fee to allow Winks to leave, and Valencia chairman Peter Lim has not given the club the green light to invest any money in the window beyond salaries.

Talks are said to be ongoing, but there is apparently no progress and any movement so far has been slow.
