Tottenham transfer rumours: Son update over new contract, Gaetano Castrovilli targeted

With little more than two months until the January transfer window opens, there is plenty of speculation doing the rounds.

The domestic transfer window only shut recently but, due to the quick turnaround between markets, clubs do not have long to wait until they are able to strengthen their squads again.

With that in mind, here are the latest Tottenham Hotspur transfer rumours...

Son's new agents

According to the Press Association, Son Heung-min has hired new agents to represent him.

The South Korean has reportedly signed up with the sports division of Hollywood talent agency CAA - CAA Base.

CAA are also said to represent Jose Mourinho in his commercial deals.

Rumours have circulated in recent weeks about Spurs offering Son a new and improved contract, with the attacker having three years remaining on his current deal, signed in 2018.

Mourinho recently spoke about Son's contract status, and hopes that he will be signing a new deal "sooner or later".

"I would love [him to sign a new contract]. Son has three years of contract, so it’s not like we’re in an extreme situation of everybody being worried. It’s more that Son loves it here, I believe that he would like to commit his future to the club for a long time.

"Everybody at the club is totally in love with this player and this boy and is trying also to make him feel part of the furniture. It’s normal the club tries to go from three years to four or five or six, I don’t know. It’s normal.

"But it’s a very calm situation because Sonny has three more years of contract. But I wish [for him to get a new contract]. He deserves one. The club knows that and sooner or later, without any pressure, they will arrive into a decision."

Spurs eye Castrovilli

Spurs have apparently been keeping tabs on Fiorentina star Gaetano Castrovilli.

FC Inter News state that the club have been scouting the midfielder, who is reportedly rated at around £42million by his club.

A number of clubs are said to be keen on the 23-year-old, including RB Leipzig, Inter and Napoli.

However, Inter have apparently already opened talks with the player's entourage about a potential move in the future.

Castrovilli could apparently take the place of former Spurs star Christian Eriksen, who has not yet nailed down a place in the first XI in Milan.
