Tottenham transfer rumours: Mourinho 'would love' to sign Gareth Bale, Demarai Gray twist

The new Premier League season is only a matter of days away, with Tottenham Hotspur kicking off their 2020/21 campaign at home to Everton on Sunday.

The new ‘All Or Nothing’ Amazon series has provided insight into how fraught the transfer season can be for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, who stated he’s always disappointed if a window ends without the Spurs squad stronger than when it began.

You could certainly argue that’s the case with no major first-team departures and Matt Doherty, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart arriving to bolster Jose Mourinho’s squad, but with another month to do business, they could well be looking for further reinforcements.

With all that in mind, here’s a round-up of all the latest Spurs-related rumours and gossip below.

Tottenham predicted XI vs Everton

Tottenham eye Napoli striker to bolster attack

Poland international striker Arkadiusz Milik is into the last year of his current deal at Napoli, and Tottenham are considering a bid report The Express .

The 26-year-old would provide depth behind Harry Kane were he to arrive in North London, and is used to playing a back-up and impact substitute role for the Serie A club in recent years, with Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne and José Callejón a first-choice front three ahead of him.

He’s said to have turned down a new deal at Napoli, and Spurs could be primed to take advantage of the season after touted moves to Juventus and Roma failed to materialise.

Leicester do u-turn on Spurs-linked star

Contrary to earlier reports, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is considering allowing Demarai Gray to leave the King Power this summer.

That’s according to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath , who suggests that Leicester will listen to offers for the 24-year-old winger as he moves into the final year of his contract.

Spurs have previously been linked with Gray, with reports that Jose Mourinho personally held transfer talks with the player last month.

Jose Mourinho ‘would love’ Gareth Bale back at Tottenham

The Express cite reports in Spain that suggest that Mourinho has long been an admirer of Gareth Bale and would love to sign the wantaway Real Madrid forward.

During international duty with Wales, Bale expressed frustration at his lack of opportunities under Zinedine Zidane in the Spanish capital, and suggested he’d consider leaving.

The La Liga champions are reportedly keen to offload the 31-year-old, who is one of the highest earners on their wage bill and remains contracted until 2022.

It’s understood that chairman Levy would not sanction such an expensive transfer. Manchester United are said to have registered their interest.
