Tottenham transfer rumours: Mourinho wants Eder Militao, Christian Eriksen to Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur face Fulham on Wednesday evening with the chance to move third in the table and just one point behind Liverpool, who face table-toppers Manchester United at the weekend.

After their progression into the FA Cup fourth round and Carabao Cup final, the first half of the season has been rather successful for Jose Mourinho's side.

However, off the pitch, there is still much work to be done, with the January transfer window not set to close for more than two weeks.

We have updates on one potential outgoing, one potential signing, and reports regarding an old favourite and nearby rival.

Here is a round-up of the latest Tottenham transfer rumours.

Stoke City leading Jack Clarke race

Jack Clarke is reportedly in talks to join Championship side Stoke City on a six-month loan to close out the season.

The 20-year-old had loan spells with Leeds United and QPR last season and, per the Daily Mail, Spurs are keen for him to gain more first-team experience, with the Championship once again the most likely destination.

The report states that several Championship clubs have expressed interest in Clarke but that Stoke are leading the way, with Michael O'Neil having already signed Rabbi Matondo and Rhys Norrington-Davies.

Clarke has made just three senior appearances for Spurs this season, all of which were as a substitute, including a 25-minute cameo against Marine in the FA Cup at the weekend.

Mourinho pressing for Militao

Mourinho is reportedly the one pressing to sign Real Madrid defender Eder Militao as he is keen to add further cover at centre-back despite investing at the position in the summer.

Spurs signed Joe Rodon in October and view the Welshman as the long-term successor to Toby Alderweireld. However, per Spanish outlet Sport via Sport Witness, Mourinho is eager to add another centre-back for the remainder of the season and has identified Militao as the ideal target.

The report states that Mourinho wants Militao, who is free to leave Madrid on a loan basis after making just three first-team appearances so far this season.

Madrid signed the 22-year-old from Porto in 2019, when there was also reported interest from Spurs, but he has been unable to establish himself in the first team.

Eriksen tipped to make Arsenal move

Christian Eriksen has been tipped to make the move to Arsenal by Watford sporting director Cristiano Giaretta, as reported by Tutto Mercato.

Eriksen has hardly featured since making the switch to Inter from Spurs last January. Meanwhile, Arsenal are in dire need of a creative midfield option and have been linked with a loan move for the Danish international.

Giaretta said: "Arsenal are regaining confidence. They’re walking again and Eriksen, honestly, could be of use there [at Arsenal]."

This comes after Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta confirmed that Eriksen is available for a transfer. "We've been very clear many times that there are players on the so-called transfer list, these are players who want to play more regularly, and the club is ready to make them happy and find replacements," he said.

"Eriksen is on the transfer list, Piero Ausilio confirmed as much. He has struggled to settle into the squad, he is not functional to the squad."
