While Monday's transfer deadline day stops Premier League clubs from signing players from overseas, an extended domestic window means signings can still be made from the EFL.
There is also not long to wait until the January transfer window, with a three-month turnaround between the two windows.
With that in mind, here are the latest Spurs rumours.
Foyth offered for Skriniar
Spurs offered Inter Milan Juan Foyth in an attempt to lower the asking price for Milan Skriniar.
Foyth eventually joined Villarreal on loan but could have moved to Inter as part of an exchange for Skriniar.
The Inter defender was one of Jose Mourinho's top targets but Spurs could not meet the Serie A side's £45m asking price.

Joe Rodon tipped to sign
Former Spurs defender Alan Hutton says Joe Rodon will sign for Spurs before the domestic transfer window shuts.
The Swansea defender has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs and, speaking to Football Insider, Hutton says he would not be surprised to see a deal happen.
He said: "They’re still looking at the boy from Swansea I’m sure they were saying and from all accounts, he’s a decent player, so that’s still an option."
Jose returns to training
AS report that Willian Jose has returned to Real Sociedad training after his attempts to leave in the summer ended in frustration.
Spurs had been linked to the striker, with Sevilla also launching a late bid for his services.
Yet no offer was able to satisfy all parties involved in a deal.
