Tottenham transfer rumours: Late move for new Arsenal signing, Spurs eye 'next Nemanja Vidic'

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a successful transfer window in the summer.

They brought in left-back Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid for £27million and he has proved to be a huge success so far.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg signed from Southampton for £15million and he has given Spurs a solidity in midfield.

And Jose Mourinho's side secured the season-long loan signings of Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius, among other deals.

With just a few days to go until the January transfer window closes, Spurs may bring in or offload a player or two.

So here are the latest Spurs-related transfer rumours.

Dele Alli

Mourinho expects the 24-year-old to remain at the club after the window shuts.

The England international has been linked with a reunion with former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, now manager at PSG.

Alli has started only one Premier League game this season.

"The transfer window is open and sometimes unexpected things can happen but I don't expect it," said Mourinho.

"I am saying that since the beginning of the transfer window I was not expecting anyone to leave.

"I was not expecting anyone to come. Until now 27th Jan, almost at the end… I don't believe anything will happen but it's open, still. Football is football."

Martin Odegaard

The new Arsenal signing reportedly snubbed a move to Spurs.

Norwegian football journalist Arilas Ould-Saada, as cited by sportslens, claims that Spurs made a move to sign the Norwegian on loan for the rest of the season.

However, the 22-year-old Real Madrid loanee opted for a switch to the Emirates instead.

Tottenham were said to be looking at Odegaard as a potential replacement for Alli if he went to PSG.

Defender likened to Nemanja Vidic on Spurs' radar

Spurs are reportedly keeping tabs on 29-year-old Napoli centre-back Nikola Maksimovic.

His contract expires in June, so the Serbian international, who has made 13 appearances in all competitions this campaign, is currently able to discuss terms with foreign clubs over a free transfer.

According to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari, Maksimovic has emerged as a target for Jose Mourinho's side, who are prepared to meet his economic demands.

He told II Napoli Online, via Sportsmole: "About [Elseid] Hysaj I have more hope, while I believe that Maksimovic will go away.

"On him, there are many teams ready to satisfy him even at an economic level, including Tottenham."

In his home country he has been likened to former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic.

West Ham, Everton, and Fulham have also been linked with the 6ft 4in defender.
