Tottenham transfer rumours: Joe Rodon £18m move questioned, Jack Grealish decision applauded

Gareth Bale. Sergio Reguilon. Carlos Vinicius. Need I say more?

Alright then. Matt Doherty, Giovani Lo Celso, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The summer transfer window proved to be one to remember for Spurs.

And there could be yet more good news to come.

Here are the latest Tottenham transfer rumours.

The lowdown on Spurs' transfer window, Joe Rodon and what next

Danny Rose could leave after all

Championship club Middlesbrough are reportedly plotting a move for Tottenham outcast Danny Rose.

Football Insider claims a recruitment source said the left-back, 30, may drop down a division to get game time.

Rose has been frozen out at Spurs and has not been given a squad number for the season ahead.

He has fallen behind £28m signing Sergio Reguilon and Ben Davies in Jose Mourinho's side.

Rose spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle but the club has cooled its interest in him since then.

He was also linked with a move away to Genoa but that fell through.

Mourinho and Rose fell out last season, an incident that was captured on the All or Nothing Amazon documentary.

Grealish 'right to snub Spurs'

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore believes Jack Grealish was right to turn down Spurs' advances in the past.

Collymore added that Grealish, 25, should join an "elite club" once the time comes to leave Aston Villa.

Tottenham were interested in Grealish back in 2018, believing he would be a good addition to their ranks.

The England international stayed at Villa Park and since then he fired them back into the Premier League and helped keep them up last term.

As Grealish's stock continues to rise, Collymore thinks he should aim higher than Spurs in the future.

Collymore told The Mirror: “He made the right decision not moving when Spurs wanted him. He'd have just been in their squad at that point.

“Since then Jack has taken a step up and is a serious player.

“Well done for not taking that move, helping get Villa into the top flight, but he can play for any elite club now.”

Former Spurs striker scoffs at potential transfer

Ex-Tottenham striker Darren Bent has questioned why the club are trying to sign Swansea City's Joe Rodon as he says they have lots of centre backs already.

The Daily Mail claims that the rising Welsh star Rodon is expected to put pen-to-paper with Spurs before Friday’s domestic transfer deadline.

During an appearance on talkSPORT, Bent laughed when he was told Swansea want £18m but Daniel Levy initially offered £7m.

“I thought you were going to say something like he offered £5 less,” Bent laughed.

“But listen, they seem really keen on getting him, don’t they? Rodon in the door. You look at the amount of centre-backs they have.

"I know they lost Vertonghen. But they have Toby Alderweireld, Sanchez, Eric Dier plays back there and Tanganga can play there.

“I mean, how many centre-backs are they looking for?”
