Tottenham transfer rumours: Harry Winks loan, Son talks delayed, Pochettino contacts Spurs star

Tottenham Hotspur righted recent poor results with a professional 3-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.

The win is an excellent start to 2021 and the January transfer window, where the club could look to further add to productive recruitment in the summer transfer window.

As a result of their astute acquisitions, several former stars are now on the outside looking in. We have updates on the futures of two players who have fallen out of the picture at Spurs this season.

We also have an update on how the coronavirus is impacting Spurs' long-term planning, especially with respect to their contract discussions.

Here are the latest Tottenham transfer rumours.

Tottenham trio’s Covid-19 breach was ‘a negative surprise’ – Jose Mourinho

Winks linked with La Liga loan

According to reports in Spain, Valencia have emerged as surprise suitors in the Harry Winks stakes, with the Spurs midfielder linked with a loan exit this month.

Per Spanish outlet AS via the Express, Valencia are interested in bringing Winks in on a six-month loan deal, with the English international said to be keen to earn more regular playing time ahead of the summer's Euros.

Winks had been a regular starter under previous manager, Mauricio Pochettino, but has slipped down the midfield pecking order under Jose Mourinho.

Having started the last two Premier League matches, it remains to be seen whether Spurs will permit Winks to depart on loan.

Son contract talks on hold

Spurs have put contract talks with star winger Son Heung-min on hold due to the coronavirus, delaying all non-urgent contract talks as the club gets to grips with the current crisis.

Per the London Evening Standard, Tottenham's revenues have been decimated by the pandemic, and with their long-term financial outlook still unclear as fans remain banned from attending matches, the club will now focus on more pressing contract situations.

Son has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, while Mourinho has previously said that the winger wants to spend the rest of his career with Spurs.

Meanwhile, Hugo Lloris, Serge Aurier, and Erik Lamela are all in the final 18 months of their respective deals and the club will have to make decisions on their futures imminently.

Pochettino makes Dele Alli contact

After being officially unveiled as Paris Saint-Germain's new head coach, Pochettino has already made contact with Spurs regarding star midfielder Dele Alli, according to Foot Mercato via Caught Offside.

The report states that Pochettino, who masterfully managed Alli during his time in north London, getting the best out of the attacking midfielder, is eager to add the 24-year-old to the PSG squad.

Alli has slipped out of the picture under Mourinho, totalling just 74 Premier League minutes across four appearances. His form has deteriorated and Pochettino could be set to offer a lifeline to the Englishman, who has been strongly linked with an exit in recent months.

Pochettino has been out of management since he was fired by Spurs a little over a year ago.
