Tottenham transfer rumours: Gareth Bale development and Southampton stance on Hojbjerg

Tottenham's season ended on a high after Jose Mourinho's side secured Europa League football for next season on the final day of the Premier League campaign.

Missing out on the Champions League, having reached the final last year, is certainly a disappointment though and work in the transfer market is required to turn the tide for next year.

Mourinho is expected to dip into the transfer market to rejuvenate his squad, with both incoming and outgoing deals on the cards.

Alasdair Gold's Spurs season debrief and the transfer window

Here, we have gathered some of the latest rumours surrounding Spurs.

Bale staying in Madrid

Former Tottenham star Gareth Bale has told Wales boss Ryan Giggs he will be staying at Real Madrid for next season, the Mirror states.

Bale endures a turbulent relationship with the Real Madrid fans and manager Zinedine Zidane, making just 12 La Liga starts in the club's title-winning season.

Regular speculation has emerged concerning Bale's future and he has regularly been linked with a return to the Premier League but he has no desire to leave the Spanish capital.

No Hojbjerg bid

Southampton are yet to receive an approach from Tottenham for midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, the Daily Echo states.

The Saints have splashed a £25m asking price upon the midfielder, with it stated that Spurs value him at a significantly lower price of £15m.

Spurs are yet to move for the player though and there has been offers from elsewhere, with Everton seeing a bid accepted and three clubs in Europe also submitting offers.

However, Hojbjerg is holding out on a move to North London and is willing to patiently wait for such a move to materialise.

Tanguy Ndombele talks

Tottenham are in talks with Inter Milan regarding the sale of former Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, reports from Sky in Italy via the Daily Star claim.

The 23-year-old started only 12 top-flight games during his first season in the Premier League and has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho.

An exit could now be on the cards as the report states that Inter have opened discussions with Spurs regarding a deal for the France international.

Tottenham are seeking a fee of £45m for the midfielder, which would represent a significant loss on the fee they paid, but Inter do not want to go that high.
