Tottenham transfer rumours: Doherty medical booked, Wilson boost, £8.8m Rakitic deal

The new season is now just two weeks away and Jose Mourinho is running out of time to land new signings ahead of the big kick-off.

Spurs are working day and night to get deals over the line and one in particular is imminent, Matt Doherty expected to complete his move from Wolves this weekend.

But Tottenham won't stop there, and we have already seen a number of names linked.

Below we run you through the latest rumours surrounding the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs willing to cough up for Wilson

Tottenham are willing to pay Callum Wilson's wages to sign him from Bournemouth.

According to the Express, Newcastle United weren't willing to pay the £75,000 per week demanded by the England international.

But they say Spurs are, and that could thrust them into pole position.

Tottenham are said to be keen on bringing in an alternative striker to Harry Kane this summer.

It seems Wilson could be a genuine option.

Barcelona midfielder linked

Spurs have been linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

Mundo Deportivo report Barcelona could out the Croatian this summer as they look to undergo a transformation following a disappointing season of last.

Sevilla and Tottenham have been linked as a result, and Rakitic is said to be open to a move to North London.

But the report claims neither of the interested parties want to pay the asking price of £8.8m.

Rakitic is now 32 years of age, and Spurs and Sevilla clearly feel there would not be enough return for investment.

Medical penned in

Spurs are closing in on the signing of Wolves wing-back Matt Doherty.

Tottenham managed to agree a fee of around £15m for the 28-year-old and a medical is penned in for today.

With everything else agreed, once Doherty passes his medical, the deal is expected to be announced.

Doherty has been with Wolves since 2010, making 260 league appearances in all.
