Tottenham transfer rumours: David Brooks boost, Callum Wilson deal, Jose Mourinho's verdict

Tottenham’s Premier League season starts in just three weeks’ time and Jose Mourinho’s side are still in the transfer market for some new signings, it appears.

Spurs finished in sixth-place last season after going through two managers, and Mourinho will be looking to ensure there isn’t a second campaign of transition in north London.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart have already been brought into the club this summer, and it doesn’t look like the former Chelsea boss is done there.

Here are the very latest Tottenham-related transfer rumours from this morning.

Brooks boost

Tottenham have been boosted in their hopes to sign David Brooks after Bournemouth insisted they wouldn't stand in the way of any player who wanted to leave.

Manager Jason Tindall told the Bournemouth Echo: "We as a football club have got a value of what we believe for our players.

"And if that value is met then players have got the opportunity to then discuss with whoever they need to discuss with and then make the decision they feel is right for them.

"But first and foremost, it needs to be right for the football club and once it's right for the football club then, as you've seen in the past, I don't think it's a club that will stand in anybody's way providing that the club's happy with and it meets the valuation of the player."

Wilson deal urged

Darren Bent has urged Tottenham to do all they can to bring in Callum Wilson from Bournemouth ahead of the new season.

Spurs have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old England international and Wilson is expected to leave after the Cherries' relegation.

Bent said: “They need someone who’s an adequate backup to Harry Kane and Callum Wilson’s smart enough to understand to know he’s not going to go down there and play straight away.

Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to add Callum Wilson to his Spurs side after completing a deal for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (2020 Visionhaus)

“You never know, if Harry Kane gets injured and Wilson goes and starts smashing the goals in, we’ve got a fight on our hands.”

Mourinho delighted with summer deals

“The club found very intelligently the moment to do it,” Mourinho said on Spurs TV.

“It was the last year of contract for Pierre, his club was in a difficult situation in terms of negotiation so I think Mr Levy did amazing for us getting such a good player for us.”

“I think the club did amazing in both because they are going to make our squad stronger,” Mourinho added.

“To bring Joe, 75 caps for England and lost of experience, he is great protection for us to have three goalkeepers.

“All internationals for their country, all good goalkeepers, you can sleep well because any injuries or problems that we have, we have three good goalkeepers.
