Tottenham transfer rumours: Christian Eriksen return, Toby Alderweireld interest

It has been a quiet transfer window so far in the Premier League, with the financial impact of the coronavirus crisis continuing to be felt.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has been in the market for new additions but, due to the aforementioned circumstances, any deals are likely to be temporary loans with the option of a permanent transfer.

A host of names have been linked with a move to north London but time is running out for deals to be done, with the added complication of the global pandemic currently rumbling on.

Here, we have gathered some of the latest snippets surrounding Spurs.

Christian Eriksen return

Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing Christian Eriksen back to Tottenham just one-year after he left for Inter Milan, Fabrizio Romano has stated.

The 28-year-old has struggled to make an impact at the San Siro since making a move to Italian football last year and both he and Inter are pushing for a January exit.

A return to the Premier League has been mentioned, with Arsenal previously touted as potential candidates, but a reunion at Spurs could now be on the cards.

However, the stumbling block may be the wages of the Denmark international as he is on a lucrative £6.6m-a-year in Italy.

Toby Alderweireld interest denied

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has denied interest in Tottenham defender amid links of a January swoop for the Belgian international, he told Voetbal Zone.

The 31-year-old has regularly been linked with a return to the Eredivisie, despite the fact his contract with Spurs runs until 2023.

However, Ten Hag has denied that this is the case: “We have good contact with Alderweireld, but we have no concrete interest. We are in constant contact.

“Marc [Overmars] maintains close contacts with all players who have left Ajax, just look at [Davy] Klaassen. At the moment that is not the case.”

Marqes Muir set for exit

Tottenham talent Marqes Muir is set for an exit this week to seal a permanent move to join PSV Eindhoven, according to Football Insider.

The 18-year-old Dutch defender has been targeted by the Eredivisie side ahead of his scholarship contract at Spurs expiring this summer.

Alkmaar are not looking to wait that long though and it is reported that a deal could be concluded by the end of the week.
