Tottenham transfer rumours: £22.5m for Gareth Bale, Troy Deeney boost, keeper exit

It looks set to be an intriguing final month of the transfer window for Tottenham Hotspur.

Whilst Spurs have strengthened somewhat in this transfer window so far, there is still some work to be done to improve Jose Mourinho's squad.

That includes bringing in another attacker to take the pressure off Harry Kane -something that has been on Spurs' to-do list for a number of windows.

With that in mind, here is the latest Spurs transfer gossip.

Bale offered

Mundo Deportivo, via Sport Witness, report that Real Madrid are hopeful of receiving an approach from Tottenham Hotspur for Gareth Bale.

Tottenham predicted XI vs Everton

Jose Mourinho is a fan of the former Spurs star, who is out in exile at Real Madrid.

After a fall-out with Zinedine Zidane, Bale is out of favour at the Bernabeu and refused to travel to England for their Champions League tie with Manchester City last month.

His wages mean it will be difficult for Real Madrid to offload him, yet it has been claimed they will be willing to sell him for just £22.5m in an attempt to attract interest from other clubs.

Deeney available

The Daily Mail report that Watford will let Troy Deeney leave this summer if they receive an acceptable bid.

Deeney has been linked with a move to Spurs or West Brom, with the 32-year-old's Premier League experience a big attraction for clubs.

Following Watford's relegation to the Championship, the Hornets have decided that they will let Deeney return to the Premier League if the right bid comes in for him.

Highly-rated keeper set for move

The Daily Mail also state that highly-rated England under-21 goalkeeper Brandon Austin looks set for a loan move away from Spurs.

Austin was part of Spurs' first-team set-up last season, being named as a substitute for a handful of matches and earning a call-up to Aidy Boothroyd's under-21 squad.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Danish side Viborg and Jose Mourinho feels more first-team experience will suit him.

A number of Championship and League One clubs are said to be weighing up offers for the 21-year-old.
