Tottenham transfer news: Spurs handed boost as Antonio Conte warned about Jordan Pickford deal

Here is your Tottenham transfer roundup on Wednesday, January 11.

Tottenham eye Palhinha

Tottenham and Liverpool are eyeing a potential move for Fulham star Joao Palhinha in the coming weeks ahead of a potential transfer switch. That's according to transfer journalist Dean Jones in his column for GiveMeSport, who claims that a move is being eyed by the two sides, but Fulham have a clear stance on any deal.

"His consistency is almost unrivalled across the league for players in this position and it is understood that Liverpool and Tottenham are two of the clubs casting an eye over him at the moment," Jones said. "Liverpool had him on their radar even before his switch to Craven Cottage."

The Portuguese midfielder has enjoyed his start to life in the Premier League so far, having made the £20million switch from Sporting CP in the summer. While he may have expected to be in something of a relegation fight this season, the opposite has been the case so far.

Porro potential

Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim has surrendered that it could be difficult for the Portuguese club to hold onto their star players - Marcus Edwards and Pedro Porro - this month. The latter of the two has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window, with Tottenham believed to be interested.

football.london understands that Antonio Conte has two priorities this month; to sign a new attacking player and a right wing-back. It's believed that the Lilywhites will be looking at both permanent and loan deals in order to grant the Italian his wish.

Tottenham are said to hold strong interest in the former Manchester City youngster, with Fabio Paratici a fan. But, with a number of clubs - such as Chelsea - beginning to rival Spurs for Porro's signature, the north Londoners could risk missing out.

Tottenham advised against signing Pickford

"I’m not sure about Pickford as I don’t think you’ll find a better player than Hugo Lloris as a captain and as someone who knows the club and the progression that this club needs to reach the top," Louis Saka told BoyleSports.

"Lloris hasn’t shown that he’s a weak link - he’s still a great goalkeeper. Just like De Gea, he’s still a top player who can play at the highest level.

"Pickford could be a good choice, he’s a top goalkeeper, but I am not sure he’s way better than Lloris - so it doesn’t make much sense."
