Mauricio Pochettino expects Danny Rose to stay at Tottenham after reports emerged that the left-back has been allowed to leave the club, with Paris Saint-Germain interested.
Tottenham travel to Old Trafford on Monday, where they have not won since 2014, and have been reintroducing Toby Alderweireld back into the side after Jose Mourinho’s failed summer pursuit of the Spurs central defender.
Hugo Lloris was charged with drink driving on Thursday night and his place in Monday’s squad is unclear.
Spurs became the first Premier League club to not make a signing in the summer transfer window since its inception in 2003, but Pochettino is adamant that they will not be losing any players.
“I expect all the players [to stay] and I am working thinking they will all be here,” Pochettino said.
European clubs still have until 31 August to complete transfers and Real Madrid have consistently been linked for a move for Alderweireld, but the Spurs manager is planning for his and Rose's future at the club.
“I cannot work thinking ‘is this player going to be here tomorrow' and not just them but others. I am so focused on trying to take the best decisions.”
"It is my fifth year in charge at the club. [My job is] giving all the players the opportunity to play and not thinking about what happened in the past or in the future. Only if you are ready can you change the future. The most important thing is to be at your best."
It would be easy for Pochettino to publically aim his cross hairs at the club for not bringing in any new players and failing to provide their new stadium on time, instead he has successfully guided them to two wins in their opening Premier League games.
Harry Kane broke his August duck against Fulham at Wembley last week in what was supposed to be Tottenham’s last game at the neutral stadium, but delays to their new ground mean that matches against Liverpool (15 September) and Cardiff (6 October) will be at Wembley.
They face Manchester City at home on 28 October and cannot use Wembley, which leaves them without a venue at the moment. Pochettino said he is unsure where the fixture will be held but is keen to make sure it does not distract the players.
"I have no idea, I told you last week. I need to see what's going on with the new stadium of course the club communicates all the news. My job is to be focused to work and support the team,” the Argentine said.
“So focusing and working a lot and try to be ready Monday to compete in the best way and try and win the game which is our objective. Trying to help the club to achieve all that the club wants to achieve.
"The players are focused day by day on their job. We are confident that the club will take the right decisions for the team and it's not in our hands. We need to be 100% trying to improve and be in the best form to win games."
