Tottenham training session: Who trained and who didn't ahead of RB Leipzig Champions League tie

Jose Mourinho's Tottenham squad trained at Hotspur Way on Monday morning ahead of their Champions League Round of 16 tie against RB Leipzig.

The players are due to fly out to Germany later this afternoon as they look to advance to the final eight of the competition by overturning the 1-0 defeat in the first leg.

The Bundesliga side were excellent at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium three weeks ago and really should have put the game out of sight with the chances they had in the first half.

Spurs have been in a dreadful run of form over the past few weeks but they managed to get a point on the board on Saturday against Burnley courtesy of Dele Alli's penalty.

One downside to the draw in Lancashire was that January signing Steven Bergwijn limped off after the full-time whistle as he made his way back to the dressing room.

The Dutchman was one of the players not involved in the training session at Hotspur Way as Mourinho and his coaching put the players through their paces.

Ben Davies, who was absent from the squad on Saturday at Turf Moor, was also not with the team on the training pitch as he and Juan Foyth remained in the gym.

One player who did make his way out after his teammates was Harry Kane.

The England captain is currently stepping up his rehabilitation from the hamstring injury he suffered against Southampton on New Year's Day and he did train away from the players on the far side.

Apart from long-term absentees Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-min, Mourinho did have the vast majority of his squad out training as youngster Malachi Walcott also took part in the session.

football.london asked Mourinho about Bergwijn limping off following the draw at Burnley and he opened up on the current situation.

"The plan was for Steven to play 55-60 minutes and then Lucas to come," he said. "The plan was to keep the fresh players on the pitch for 90 minutes, but I had to change that at half-time immediately.

"Steven had to play for 90 minutes, so on top of that he’s injured.

"Let’s see if it’s something minor and if he can make the effort because Tuesday I only want two options: we win or we lose but we leave everything there.

"We go with everything. The group is very strong and the group is very united. We go with everything. Tired not tired, injured not injured. We go there Tuesday with everything."
