Tottenham tracking Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen amid Toby Alderweireld uncertainty

Tottenham are tracking Sampdoria centre-half Joachim Andersen.

The 23-year-old Dane is among the possible replacements for Toby Alderweireld if the Belgian's £25million release clause is triggered by a rival club this summer.

Spurs are currently prioritising the signing of Tanguy Ndombele but negotiations are expected to drag on, with Lyon thought to be demanding in excess of £60m for the 22-year-old France international and the clubs still someway apart in their valuations.

Andersen is also admired by Italian clubs, including Maurizio Sarri's Juventus, but Spurs are unlikely to make a move until Alderweireld's future is resolved and they have strengthened their midfield.

Andersen's international team-mate Christian Eriksen remains in transfer limbo after declaring he would like a new challenge away from Spurs.

Real Madrid and Juve admire the playmaker, who has one year remaining on his contract, but both are waiting to see how Paul Pogba's situation at Manchester United unfolds. Pogba has also said he would like a new challenge this summer.
