Tottenham told what they need to win trophies as Nuno Espirito Santo delivers verdict on attack

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Monday, October 18.

Ginola verdict

Former Tottenham Hotspur star David Ginola has claimed that his old club needs to spend more money in order to compete for trophies.

“The team is going to be fine. You look at this new era Newcastle and you think about Spurs, will it be enough in terms of money to invest in players?” Ginola told Sky Sports.

"They have all the infrastructure to be a great club, but now they need to be able to attract the best players, without enough money you will not be able to do so.

“So, it’s important for Spurs to find some more money to compete against the best because I can’t believe I’m talking like that.”

Suspension explained

Play was then halted during the 3-2 win against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon after a supporter appeared to need medical attention.

Tottenham fullback Sergio Reguilon brought the incident to the referee's attention before centre-back Eric Dier quickly ushered for someone to run with a defibrillator across the pitch.

The referee Andre Marriner decided to take the two teams to the sidelines before sending them into the changing rooms shortly after.

Eventually, the game restarted after 16 minutes as the fan in question was stabilised and rushed to hospital.

Nuno praises attack

Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo delivered his verdict on his side's attacking players after they defeated the Magpies.

When asked about his front four, he said: "I think it's not only the front four, all the team played good, but of course we're talking about Sonny, Harry, Lucas and Tanguy.

"I think they combined well, they worked very hard without the ball and the way they recovered, with the mobility they created.

"It was good but everything they did was because they had the foundation behind them. Skippy and Pierre, they did fantastic work."
