Tottenham told what they must do if they are to seal Christian Eriksen transfer this month

Tottenham Hotspur must pay the full percentage of Christian Eriksen's wages if they are to re-sign the Denmark international on loan from Inter Milan before the January transfer window closes.

Since joining Inter from Tottenham just over a year ago, Eriksen has struggled to adapt to life in Italy, with his performances having been a complete shadow of the ones he was so used to producing in north London.

Following his arrival in Italy in January last year, Eriksen featured 26 times in all competitions before the end of the season, scoring four goals and registering three assists.

Whilst it was not the usual levels of goals and assists that you would have expected from the former Ajax man, it was a step in the right direction after having to adapt to a different style of play.

Dele Alli, Jose Mourinho and January transfer possibility

This season, however, the attacking-midfielder has failed to score or register a single assist in 14 matches, meaning he has failed to cement himself in manager Antonio Conte's plans.

As the January transfer window approached, it became clear that Eriksen would be allowed to leave the San Siro if the right offer was presented.

Back in November, Giuseppe Marrota, the Italian giants' chief executive, hinted that Eriksen did not figure in Conte's plans.

"[Antonio] Conte has already spoken about it thoroughly," said Marotta. "I can just add that we do not certainly have to force a player to stay when he asks to leave.

"We will have to evaluate the situation. Now he is available for Conte, who has been making him play in [Eriksen's] respect and in the club's respect. Up to now, we have not received any request from Eriksen, but at the right time we will try to find the right combinations."

Since then, the midfielder, who turns 29 next month, has been linked with a whole host of clubs in England, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Spurs.

So far, though, nobody has been able to present an offer to Inter that they have deemed acceptable.

According to Italian sports journalist and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Inter will demand 100 per cent of Eriksen's wages to allow him to leave on loan for the remainder of the season.

According to the Italian, it would cost any club wishing to sign the midfielder around €4million after taxes.

Spurs could be keen on the prospect of re-signing Eriksen before the window closes on February 1, with midfielder Dele Alli attracting interest from former Tottenham chief Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain.

It is believed that the French club are very keen on landing the England international on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

Should Alli leave, it could force Spurs to launch a sensational move and bring Eriksen back to north London just 12 months after he left.
