Tottenham 'to snub Gareth Bale at end of the season' and send him back to Real Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur are 'not considering' a second loan move for Gareth Bale, according to reports.

The summer saw the 31-year old return on loan to the club he left for a world record fee back in 2013, in a move that sparked plenty of fanfare.

There had previously been suggestions that Spurs could well extend the loan agreement for another season, taking him to the end of his Real Madrid contract.

However, having established himself as one of the world's best players during his first spell with the club, the Wales international has largely struggled to make an impact this time around.

Bale has played just four Premier League games since his arrival and, according to The Times, there are no plans currently in place for Spurs to extend his stay in North London.

The news will likely come as a concern for Real, who are reportedly keen to get Bale and his £650,000-a-week wages off their books in order to finance a big-money move for France's Kylian Mbappe.

Bale has scored 105 goals and made 68 assists for the Spanish giants in just 251 games, and has helped Real claim four Champions Leagues and two La Liga titles.

Yet he was largely frozen out by Real boss Zinedine Zidane, and hopes were high that the move to North London would revitalise the player's career, particularly ahead of the upcoming Euro 2020 championships.

Boss Jose Mourinho, who's long been a keen admirer of the Welshman, is believed to be pleased with Bale's 'attitude' and 'character', but the player's relative lack of success on the pitch is clearly becoming a concern.

Bale's header against Brighton remains the only goal in the top flight this season, and he was only deemed worthy of a place on the bench in the 5-0 win over Marine in the FA Cup, although he did come on for the final 25 minutes.
