Tottenham 'to return with January offer' for Paulo Dybala after failed move

Tottenham are reportedly lining up a fresh bid to sign Juventus forward Paulo Dybala in January.

Spurs made an approach for the 25-year-old during the summer but were priced out of a move.

Despite agreeing a fee with Juve, Dybala's wage and commission demands forced the deal to collapse.

However the Star report that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is still keen on bringing his Argentine compatriot to the club and will make a renewed offer.

Pochettino is currently facing up to the prospect of losing star midfielder Christian Eriksen within the next year.

The Dane is out of contract at the end of the season, and could yet leave the club in a cut-price deal in January.

That would open up a space in the squad for Dybala, who has remained at Juventus despite a late loan approach from PSG.

Dybala has barely featured for Juventus in their opening four Serie A matches this season, and is not thought to be part of boss Maurizio Sarri's initial first-team plans.

He still has three years to run on his current contract with the Old Lady, but the club are open to offers.

Tottenham are hopeful a bid of £65 million will be enough to secure the services of Dybala, but the stumbling block could be whether he wants to move to north London.

Man Utd also expressed an interest in the forward during the transfer window before pulling out of a transfer due to question marks over his desire to play at Old Trafford.

PSG are believed to be Dybala's preference, although it is not known whether the French champions still hold an interest in the player after signing Mauro Icardi.

Spurs are looking to steal a march on the French champions by moving for Dybala in the mid-season, in order to avoid competing with PSG for his signature next summer.
