Tottenham 'to reignite interest in Napoli star' before end of transfer window

Mauricio Pochettino is ready to revive his interest in signing Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj, according to reports.

The Tottenham boss is looking to bolster his defence after Juan Foyth suffered an ankle injury against Bayern Munich in a pre-season game last week.

Foyth's absence is set to leave Spurs short at right-back after Kieran Trippier was sold to Atletico Madrid for a fee of around £20 milion earlier in the summer.

And the Express report that the Argentinian is ready to compete with Roma and Juventus for Hysaj.

According to the publication, Napoli want around £20 million for the 25-year-old, who can also provide cover at left-back.

The Albanian, who joined the Serie A club from Empoli in 2015, has previously been linked with a move to Tottenham's Premier League rivals Chelsea .

He made 35 appearances in all competitions for Napoli last season as Carlo Ancelotti's side finished second in the Italian league.

After already completing deals for Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndombele, Spurs are expected to be busy before the transfer window closes on August 8.

The north London club want to add another midfielder and are hoping to complete a deal for Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso.

However, Spurs have been unable to agree a fee for the Argentinian after having a £52m bid rejected, with the La Liga club believed to want at least £70m.

The Premier League club have reportedly identified Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes as an alternative and are understood have held talks with the Portuguese club over a potential transfer.

The Portugal international, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United , scored 31 goals from midfield last season.
