Tottenham to overtake Arsenal in UEFA rankings as Spurs plan new Dusan Vlahovic approach

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Tuesday, September 14.

Tottenham to overtake Arsenal

Spurs are set to overtake Arsenal in the UEFA rankings for the first time in 29 years as a result of the Gunners’ failure to qualify for Europe this season, as per the Daily Mail.

The UEFA rankings are based on results within the last five years, with Arsenal sitting 12th and Spurs 13th before the big European kick-off this week.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side will be awarded bonus points for each round they surpass throughout the Europa Conference League, with two points for a victory and one for a draw. Arsenal are unable increase their total of 80.0 until at least next season.

Kessie transfer blow

Tottenham have suffered a blow in their pursuit of AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, with the Italian giants confident the player will stay at the San Siro despite his contract expiring at the end of the season.

Milan manager Stefano Pioli said: “I would like Kessie to sign”, as per Tuttomercato.

“The negotiations go on between the club and his agent, I don’t think this is the time to worry. With Franck I only talk about matters relating to the pitch and I always see him as positive and serene, there are no problems.”

Calciomercato are reporting that the Premier League club plan to make a ‘new assault’ to sign the striker. It’s said he is the ‘number one goal’ for Spurs next season.
