Tanguy Ndombele is set to become one of Tottenham’s highest-paid players if he completes a club-record move from Lyon.
Spurs have taken a huge step towards signing the France midfielder and are hopeful of concluding a deal worth about £62m, with Ndombele signing a five-year contract.
Ndombele, 22, is thought to be earning between £50,000-60,000 a week at Lyon and can expect a substantial rise if he moves to Spurs.
Harry Kane is the club’s top earner on about £200,000 a week, with Dele Alli on about £150,000 – the same amount offered to Christian Eriksen, who has only one year left on his current £75,000-a-week contract and has indicated he may leave this summer.

Standard Sport understands Ndombele had previously been in two minds about joining Tottenham, with Juventus, Real Madrid and Manchester City all thought to have been tracking his progress.
But reports in France indicate he is now convinced he can fulfil his ambitions in north London: winning major titles, and become a key player in the France team.
If Ndombele arrives, the deal would comfortably eclipse Spurs’ previous record capture – Davinson Sanchez from Ajax in summer 2017, for £42m.
