Tottenham to battle Man United for Norwich ace as former Spurs star gives Erik Lamela verdict

Here is your Spurs morning digest for Monday, January 25.

Ex-Spurs star glad to hear about Erik Lamela's future

According to Eurosport, Erik Lamela was among a host of Spurs players linked with an exit from the club.

That included Danny Rose, Gedson Fernandes, Paulo Gazzaniga, while it was reported that the club would listen to offers for any of Dele Alli, Harry Winks, Davinson Sanchez, Lucas Moura, and Lamela.

But Fabrizio Romano has insisted that Lamela has no intention of leaving the club, despite interest from sides in Italy.

Former Tottenham keeper Paul Robinson said he was relieved to hear that as he thinks he is "massively underrated".

He told Football Insider: “I’m glad to hear that.

Dele Alli, Jose Mourinho and January transfer possibility

“He is a very good player and has been massively underrated during his time at the club. He has always performed well and contributed with goals and assists.

“He hasn’t got much time left on his contract but I would not be surprised if he did sign a new deal. He is only 28 so there is time left in him. There could be another 18-month deal offered to him.

“He is keeping Dele Alli and Harry Winks out of the team which says a lot. He is so versatile and very useful.”

Spurs and Man United go head to head for Norwich star

Spurs are reportedly monitoring Norwich City full-back Max Aarons, who has been a pivotal player for Daniel Farke's side.

The 21-year-old has started all 25 of their league games so far this season, as the Canaries sit top of the Championship.

Manchester United and Everton are reportedly interested in the youngster and now it appears Tottenham are keen on reviving their interest in him too.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Mourinho's side are weighing up a £20million bid for the young defender, who has previously been linked with a move to north London.

Furthermore, Spurs transfer chief Steve Hitchen was spotted in the crowd at Carrow Road as Norwich took on Bristol City in the Championship on Wednesday night, as reported by football.london.

Hitchen has been responsible for the signings of Davinson Sanchez, Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn, and Tanguy Ndombele amongst others.

Spurs' next opponents ready for FA Cup clash

Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth is confident they will have enough players fit to fulfil tonight's FA Cup fourth-round tie with Tottenham.

The Chairboys have not played since January 9 because of positive Covid-19 tests.

"Tomorrow [Saturday] is the FA round of testing for us. We have to fulfil that," Ainsworth said on Friday.

"Out of 30 players I think I will have high-20s."

The two sides played out a memorable tie in 2017 at the same stage when Wycombe were a League Two side.

They were leading 3-2 at White Hart Lane in the 89th minute, only to lose it 4-3 in the 97th minute.
