Tottenham tipped to complete deal for Gareth Bale as Jose Mourinho sets Spurs on new path

Gareth Bale will return to Tottenham Hotspur in 2020 as a marquee signing to truly get the Jose Mourinho era started at Spurs according to the latest transfer odds.

The Real Madrid forward has long been tripped to leave Spain and come back to the Premier League with Manchester United previously linked with a move for the Welshman.

However, SportNation.bet claim that the north London side are now the favourites to secure a deal for the Champions League specialist.

Tottenham: A look back at 2019

Bale became the world's expensive player at the time of his departure from Tottenham to join Real Madrid. A deal going the other way would come at a far lower cost for Spurs, even in January.

He isn't the only big name signing to expect from Mourinho and Daniel Levy going by the bookies.

Sporting Clube de Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes is still in the mix along with Juventus playmaker Paulo Dybala.

Images rights were the snag that saw a deal for the Argentinian fall through in the summer. He was supposed to be one of the finishing pieces in Mauricio Pochettino's jigsaw but is also admired by Mourinho.

Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly is also tipped for a move to Spurs along with West Ham's Declan Rice and Leicester City right-back Ricardo Pereira.

There are some names in the list of players that the odds suggest could be on their way to Tottenham that fans will be less than pleased to see.

Nemanja Matic gets a nod. If he were to leave Old Trafford for the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium he would complete a hat-trick of teams for whom he has played for under Mourinho after Chelsea and United.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is second only to Bale when it comes to the odds and while he may have dominated Major League Soccer, given his injuries, it cannot be assumed that he will be a big success in England a second time around.

The full list of odds for each player to join Tottenham in the January transfer window can be found below.
