Tottenham: Thomas Frank issues Dominic Solanke injury update ahead of trip to West Ham

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank has ruled Dominic Solanke out of contention for his side’s trip to West Ham.

The striker, who arrived from Bournemouth last year for £60million, did not play in the 1-0 defeat by his former club last time out, and he will be sidelined once more when Spurs travel east to visit the London Stadium.

Solanke, 27, has been struggling with an ankle niggle.

It is the same issue that caused the striker to experience a frustrating pre-season as he was absent from Spurs’ tour of Asia and did not feature in the 4-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.

Solanke did to return to action in the UEFA Super Cup penalty shoot-out loss to Paris Saint-Germain before making substitute appearances against Burnley and Manchester City in Tottenham’s opening two games of the Premier League campaign.

Richarlison has played up front in the England international’s absence.

Frank, looking to bounce back from his first league loss since joining the club from Brentford, said that all players that had gone off to represent their countries had returned unscathed.

"Everyone returned from international duty well,” the Dane said.

“Always positive, very happy about that. Dom will not be available still, I don't expect it to be too long but he will not be available for this game.

“I think right now we are doing everything we can – the medical team - to get on top of it and that’s what we’re focusing on. I get a feeling he is not too far away, but he’s just fallen short for this week."

Spurs will also be without Yves Bissouma, who Frank said was “not too far away” from a return to action.

James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Radu Dragusin are longer-term absentees for the north Londoners.
