Tottenham team vs Manchester City confirmed: Eriksen back in, Vertonghen and Lo Celso on bench

Mauricio Pochettino has named the side that he believes can do the job against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The Spurs boss left Jan Vertonghen out of his squad to face Aston Villa while Christian Eriksen was named on the bench before coming on and helping change the course of the game.

Eriksen returns to the starting line-up for the Premier League clash with the reigning champions with Vertonghen on the bench.

Pochettino hinted to football.london on Friday that Kyle Walker-Peters was likely to start against Pep Guardiola's men after his impressive display against Villa and the young right-back does retain his place.

New signing Giovani Lo Celso takes his place on the bench alongside Lucas Moura.

Still on the injury list are Dele Alli and Ryan Sessegnon (both hamstring) while Juan Foyth is injured (ankle) and suspended and Son Heung-min is serving the final game of his three-match ban.

Here is the team Pochettino has gone with: Lloris (C), Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Rose, Winks, Sissoko, Ndombele, Eriksen, Lamela, Kane. Subs: Gazzaniga, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Skipp, Lucas, Lo Celso.
