Tottenham team confirmed vs Vitesse: Scarlett and Gil start, Markanday and Clarke named on bench

Nuno Espirito Santo has made a total of 11 changes to his Tottenham team for this evening's Europa Conference League clash against Vitesse Arnhem.

Confirming in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday that the starters from the Newcastle game wouldn't be making the trip to the Netherlands, the Spurs head coach has once again given an opportunity to those on the periphery of the first team in Europe.

A regular starter in Europe this season, Pierluigi Gollini comes in between the sticks in place of Hugo Lloris, with Japhet Tanganga, Joe Rodon, Davinson Sanchez and Ben Davies getting the nod in defence.

Keeping faith with the 4-2-3-1 formation he has utilised in recent weeks, Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso make up the midfield two.

Steven Bergwijn, Dele Alli and Bryan Gil are the attacking trio playing just ahead of them, while Dane Scarlett comes in once again to start his second Europa Conference League group fixture.

Elsewhere, youngsters Dilan Markanday, Nile John, Jack Clarke and Brooklyn Lyons-Foster are named on the bench for the clash and will be looking to get minutes under their belt at some point across the evening.

Currently top of the pile in Group G with four points from a possible six, a victory in Arnhem will see Tottenham open up a four-point lead over their opponents heading into the final three fixtures.

However, Espirito Santo doesn't expect the game to be so straightforward and has outlined what he is expecting from the Dutch club.

"A tough one, a tough one, a tough one. A team that is very aggressive on their football. Very dynamic. Mobility. We have to be really focus. But it’s about us, our tasks and our ideas for the game," he said when facing the media.

"We want to try to be in control of the game with and without the ball. So we prepare well the training sessions, we still have to travel, tomorrow the meeting, we pass all the info and the details to the players. And then support them during the game."

Here is the Tottenham team Espirito Santo has selected to face the Eredivisie side:

Tottenham team vs Vitesse: Gollini; Tanganga, Rodon, Sanchez, Davies; Winks, Lo Celso; Bergwijn, Alli, Gil; Scarlett

Substitutes: Austin, White, John, Fagan-Walcott, Clarke, Cesay, Matthew Craig, Michael Craig, Lyons-Foster, Markanday
