Tottenham team confirmed vs Newcastle United: Serge Aurier starts as Mourinho names unchanged XI

Jose Mourinho has named his Tottenham team to face Newcastle United in the Premier League this evening.

Last in action on Sunday as the side recorded a much-needed 2-1 win over Arsenal in the north London derby, Spurs will be looking to make it two wins on the bounce as they aim to finish the season strongly.

Despite the uncertainty over whether or not Serge Aurier would feature following the tragic death of his brother in France on Monday morning, the Ivory Coast international starts against the Magpies.

Given he could have made a few changes following Sunday's game, Mourinho has elected to go with the same side that won for the game on Tyneside.

Newcastle v Spurs: Jose Mourinho press conference

While Spurs have won their last two games at St James' Park, the head coach has yet to record a league win at the stadium during his time in English football.

All will be hoping that changes this evening with the team still in the race for a Europa League spot.

"I have no idea. No idea," he said when asked about his poor record at St James' Park in his pre-match press conference. "I won there in a cup match, I think it was extra-time, Frank Lampard goal if I remember that. I think we won that cup.

"Apart from that, a few draws, some defeats with two different clubs in this case, Chelsea and United. I don't know.

"I love to go there. This time without the fans I will not love so much. But I love to go there, and feel such an amazing atmosphere that they always have.

"I think it's quite normal when a big team goes there, Newcastle fans to be supporting the team in a special way.

"I really don't know, it happens. There are some other opponents where the record is incredible - like for example against Arsenal - against Newcastle away, for some reason... But I don't care. I don't care.

"It doesn't influence me. It doesn't make me think that tomorrow we are not going to win, just because of my record, it's just a negative record. I really don't care."

Here is the team Mourinho has selected to take on Newcastle:

Spurs XI vs Newcastle United: Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Davies; Sissoko, Winks, Lo Celso; Lucas, Son, Kane.

Substitutes: Gazzaniga, Tanganga, Vertonghen, White, Sessegnon, Skipp, Gedson, Lamela, Bergwijn.
