Tottenham team confirmed vs Chelsea: Ndombele and Tanganga start, Dele and Aurier on bench

Jose Mourinho has made four changes to his Tottenham Hotspur team that beat Aston Villa to face Chelsea in a crunch top four Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs were only in action last on Wednesday night in their Champions League home defeat against RB Leipzig, and they will take on a Chelsea team who last played on Monday in their own defeat to Manchester United.

Erik Lamela is yet to train with the squad since returning from injury but managed 20 minutes on Wednesday night and the Argentine is on the bench again.

Jose Mourinho on returning to Stamford Bridge

Mourinho told football.london that he hopes "the first time [Tanguy Ndombele] plays a match in the starting line-up, he can play and be on the pitch for 60-90 minutes and not have any setback".

The Frenchman does start for Spurs and a midfield trio of Ndombele, Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso would certainly go down well with the Tottenham fans.

Japhet Tanganga also comes into the team for Serge Aurier, with Mourinho going with a back three of Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen.

Up front Mourinho continues with Lucas Moura but Dele Alli drops to the bench.

Here's the team Spurs will start the match with:

Lloris; Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen; Tanganga, Winks, Ndombele, Davies; Lo Celso, Bergwijn; Lucas. Subs: Gazzaniga, Aurier, Dier, Skipp, Gedson, Dele, Lamela.
