Tottenham team confirmed vs Brighton: Conte makes defensive decision with new face on bench

Antonio Conte has made one change to his Tottenham Hotspur team to face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Conte is without Matt Doherty, who ruptured his medial collateral ligament and will now be out for up to 10 weeks. Oliver Skipp remains out for Spurs with his pelvic injury, while Japhet Tanganga will return in pre-season following his knee surgery.

As he did during the win at Aston Villa last weekend, Sergio Reguilon comes in for Doherty at left wing-back, with Emerson Royal continuing on the right. Elsewhere the team picks itself at the moment with Spurs in fine form and the front three of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski racking up the goals and assists.

Academy right-back Marcel Lavinier is on the bench for Spurs as cover for the absent Doherty. Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg continue their partnership upfront while the back three of Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies remain intact.

Conte himself is here, having recovered from Covid, and he arrived separately at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as a precautionary measure.

Here is the team that Conte has chosen:

Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies; Emerson, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Reguilon; Kulusevski, Kane, Son. Subs: Gollini, Rodon, Sanchez, Lavinier, Sessegnon, White, Winks, Bergwijn, Lucas.
