Tottenham target Dani Ceballos drops major hint over transfer

Tottenham are stepping up their bid to land Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos on loan.

The Spain Under-21 star, 22, has posted a picture of himself on social media in a traditional London phone box, sparking suggestions a switch could be moving closer.

Mirror Football revealed last month that Ceballos has been in Mauricio Pochettino’s sights.

The Spurs boss remains intent on revamping his Champions League finalists with the club ready to listen to offers for Victor Wanyama and Christian Eriksen hopeful of a move to the Bernabeu.

Spurs have already shattered their transfer record with the £65million signing of Lyon midfielder Tanguy NDombele. The club are also keen on Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso who would cost a similar amount.

Ceballos impressed in his country’s victorious campaign in the U21 European Championship recently.

He scored two goals and provided two assists on the run to the title.

Liverpool are interested in a permanent move but Ceballos has been insistent that he would prefer a loan move as he remains determined to break into the Real Madrid first team.

He said last month: "I think [boss Zinedine] Zidane will have seen the tournament. But we all know what he thinks.

"I would like to try out something new: next year, my goal is to play 40 games and play in [next summer’s] Euros.”
