Tottenham and England have been left to sweat over the fitness of Kieran Trippier after the full-back suffered a groin injury against Crystal Palace.

Trippier, who scored England's only goal in the World Cup semi-final, was forced off in the first half as Tottenham battled to a 1-0 at Selhurst Park .

The 28-year-old became the ninth of 12 Spurs players to suffer an injury following their involvement in the World Cup, with Davinson Sanchez missing the London derby with a groin injury.

"I hope it is not a big issue, we don't know [if he can play for England]," Pochettino said following the game.

"We need to see, the doctors and medical staff will assess him and then the medical staff of England and they will see if he's going to be involved or not."

Midfielder Erik Lamela was forced off late on after a boot to the forehead left him needed stitches, though he insisted he was okay ahead of joining up with the Argentina squad.
