Tottenham Supporters Trust shunned by board over Jose Mourinho concerns

Tottenham's Supporters' Trust have been shunned by the club's board after they sought assurances about their position moving forward.

There is a divide within in the north London club between those happy to see Jose Mourinho come in and those who remain loyal to Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine was axed last week and Tottenham moved swiftly to appoint a man who, in almost every way, at the other end of the scale.

That has raised concerns over the club's attitude towards matters on and off the pitch with playing style and recruitment high on the agenda.

The Trust issued a statement that said: “There are obviously concerns about how Jose and our club’s executive board will work together.

“The club must ensure it does not find itself in the same position in two or three years’ time, and we need to hear from the executive board what the long-term thinking behind this appointment is, and how it sees its role.”

However, according to the Athletic they are yet to hear a response from Tottenham's hierarchy amid fears they will turn their backs on over five years of endeavour.

Pochettino made the decision to invest in youth and a style of football that would entertain the 60,000 people who now pack into Tottenham's state of the art stadium.

A Champions League final was also reached despite Daniel Levy's frugal nature in the transfer market.

Mourinho, wherever he has been, has enjoyed the luxury of a hefty bank balance and many doubt he would've taken the Tottenham job had he not been assured something similar.

The Special One has won his opening two games as manager and rectified their Premier League away day issues at West Ham.

But the unveiling on a flag that had an image of Pochettino proves that fans are not all on the same page.
