Tottenham summer signings 2019: Who has arrived, how much for and what they said about joining

Tottenham Hotspur made some noise in the 2019 summer transfer window.

As well as bringing in four new faces, the north London outfit also said goodbye to the likes of Kieran Trippier, Vincent Janssen and Josh Onomah, while a few others have departed on loan deals.

So who are the new faces named in the squad for the 2019/20 Premier League season? We take a look at Spurs' 2019 summer signings.

Jack Clarke

From: Leeds United

Fee: £9m

On July 2, 2019 Tottenham made their first signing since the January 2018 transfer window.

Exciting winger Jack Clarke signed on the dotted line in a deal which has seen the 18-year-old head back to Leeds United for the 2019/2020 season.

What he said: "I'm delighted to sign for such a top club, it's still bizarre, I'm still getting my head round it at the moment,  but it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down, it's one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world at the moment.

"Watching them in the Champions League this season, how well they're doing, the training ground, the facilities and obviously the bunch of players that are here, they're top, top players and I'm looking forward to playing with them and training with them.

"Hopefully I can take a few bits on board from them and progress myself."

Tanguy Ndombele

From: Lyon

Fee: £63m

Spurs smashed their transfer record this summer to sign Tanguy Ndombele.

Tottenham fended off competition from Manchester United and Juventus to secure the signature of one of Europe's most promising central midfielders.

And he's set an ambitious target for his debut season in English football.

What he said: "I hope to be able to bring what I know I can do. I want to do my bit for the team and the group. I hope to start and integrate well, settle in to the group and then continue in the same way.

"I want to win silverware, that's also why I'm here. For me, I hope we can win the Champions League.

"It's a really tough competition to win, where things are decided by small margins. I just hope I can win it next season with Tottenham, that would be perfect for me."

Mauricio Pochettino makes FIFA The Best shortlist

Ryan Sessegnon

From: Fulham

Fee: £30m

The wonderkid was one of two new arrivals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on transfer deadline day - in a move which is certainly a signal of intent for the north London outfit going into the new campaign.

Sessegnon had been linked with Spurs for over 18 months and has signed a five-year contract with the club.

His debut has been pushed back because of injury, but the teenager is raring to get going once fully fit.

What he said: "First and foremost, I’m delighted to come to Spurs. It’s the right time for me to come here, a young, eager team, an exciting team for me to join. This team is not far off winning big things in the future.

"The intensity of the way Tottenham play, the energy you can see on the field, the style of play is fantastic, the new stadium, Champions League football... for a young player, it’s all exciting. It would be silly not to join a Club like this!

"First and foremost, to work hard and to learn from everyone in the team. I want to learn what it means to play for Tottenham, the honour of the Club. I’ll work hard to try to earn my spot and hopefully get some minutes under my belt."

Giovani Lo Celso

From: Real Betis

Fee: Loan

The other half of Spurs' double deadline swoop.

Giovani Lo Celso has initially joined the north London outfit on loan, but there's an option for a permanent deal at the end of the season.

What he said: "It was an easy decision to make. It’s a club that plays in the Champions League every year, has an incredible stadium, a top-level training centre, a coaching team of Argentines that showed interest in me, and that was very important for my final decision.

"When a manager such as Mauricio Pochettino targets you it’s important so I’m very happy, enjoying this moment and hope that it works out for the best as far as everyone is concerned.

"This is a very big club with plenty of history. There’s a great project ahead which is why I’m here. The team got to the final of the last Champions League which is no mean feat. As I said, I’m very happy to be here and ready to give my all.”
