Tottenham's pursuit of Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic looks to be all but over following fresh reports from Italy.
football.london understands that there is genuine interest in the 21-year-old Serbia international from Spurs, but any move for his services will have been towards the end of the window.
However, Tottenham have now been dealt a blow because according to Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport, Atletico Madrid have now reached an agreement with Fiorentina over a deal worth around €70million (£59.6m) for Vlahovic.
The fresh report from Italy claims that an agreement was struck over the weekend for the highly-rated forward.
Vlahovic has less than two years remaining on his contract with the Florence-based club and now looks set to leave this month.
Speaking earlier in the summer about his future, amid heavy speculation, the Serbia forward was very reluctant to get into too much detail.
The forward told Serbian magazine MozzartSport in May: “I try not to read the rumours.
“Of course, I open websites to see the main news. But I don’t read the news about me and I skip it right away.
"I am just concentrating on football. I learned that it is important to rest as much as train.
"Alright, you also have to go out and give yourself a break. We are all humans. But now I am interested in resting as best as I can for the coming season.
"I see myself at Fiorentina, I have two more years of contract and on 7th July, I will be there for the [pre-season] roll-call.”
More recently, Fiorentina director Nicola Burdisso spoke of the club's intention to renew Vlahovic's contract.
Burdisso said: "Our intention is to renew Vlahovic's contract. That's what the other directors said too, it's what the coach and the fans all want.
"The most important thing for us is that he's on the field today."
