Tottenham suffer another injury blow ahead of Champions League clash with Man City

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has provided injury updates on two players ahead of the Champions League quarter final second leg with Manchester City.

Spurs hold a 1-0 advantage over City heading into Wednesday's second leg at the Etihad, but they will be without talisman Harry Kane after the striker suffered ligament damage to his ankle in the first leg.

Dele Alli was also substituted with an injury at the new Spurs Stadium, and he subsequently missed their Premier League win over Huddersfield on Saturday.

Spurs fans will have been worried to see young midfielder Harry Winks also absent from the matchday XI in the 4-0 win after an accomplished performance against City on Tuesday.

And Pochettino confirmed the pair would be assessed before the second leg.

He said on Alli: "We'll see because we are not sure. He is doing some training sessions with protection, he needs to feel comfortable.

"It is a little bit painful because he broke his hand in two different places. It all depends on the time, we will see if we arrive in a position where he is comfortable to play. We'll see, today is difficult to know."

When asked about Winks, Pochettino reported a similar situation.

"It's the same as in the past," he said.

"He was training yesterday and the middle of training started to feel it again something painful in his groin. He's a player we need to assess tomorrow, and then after tomorrow take a decision.

"It's a similar situation, it's not a big issue but it's an issue that maybe not allowed to play or not going to be in condition to play Wednesday. We need to assess. We are optimistic, but you know there is doubt."

Spurs rested a number of players against Huddersfield, with Heung-Min Son, Toby Alderweireld, Keiran Trippier and Danny Rose all on the bench.
