Tottenham striker Troy Parrott set for Millwall medical ahead of season-long loan switch

Millwall are closing in on a deal to sign Tottenham forward Troy Parrott on a season-long loan.

The 18-year-old is close to agreeing terms with the Lions and is set to complete a medical in Dublin, having returned home following the end of the season.

Parrott is already a full Republic of Ireland international, having made his debut against New Zealand in November, but was repeatedly declared "not ready" for Premier League football by Spurs manager Jose Mourinho before lockdown.

Parrott missed the restart after undergoing a hernia operation and was not included in any of Spurs' matchday squads after returning to fitness in mid-July.

There is interest in the teenager from elsewhere in the Championship, but Spurs want him to remain in the capital.

He has been given a glowing reference at Millwall by Republic of Ireland Under-21 team-mate Jayson Molumby, who spent last season on loan at The Den from Brighton.

Millwall struggled for a firepower as they narrowly missed out on the play-offs this season, with forwards Matt Smith and Tom Bradshaw failing to sparkle.

Smith scored just twice in eight matches after the restart, while Bradshaw's last goal came in January.

England captain Harry Kane spent time on loan at Millwall from Spurs in 2012 and has credited the spell with toughening him up.

Millwall are also hoping to sign Wigan striker Kieffer Moore and have bid for the Welshman.
