Tottenham striker Richarlison wins World Cup 2022 Goal of the Tournament after stunning Brazil strike

Richarlison has won the 2022 World Cup Goal of the Tournament award.

A stunning control and bicycle kick effort from the Tottenham striker made it 2-0 to Brazil in their group opener against Serbia, and won the fan vote after the final in Qatar.

The goal was one of three for Richarlison at the World Cup, as he also scored the opening goal against Serbia and in the romp past South Korea in the last-16.

Fans voted for the moment ahead of a strong field of contenders, including Salem Aldawsari’s brilliant long-range finish as Saudi Arabia beat Argentina in the group stage.

Kylian Mbappe’s goal to make it 2-2 in the final was also worthy of consideration, as was Lionel Messi’s hit from outside the box that broke the deadlock for Argentina against Mexico.

Brazil were ultimately knocked out at the quarter-final stage after being beaten on penalties by Croatia.

Richarlison is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury at the World Cup, and will miss Tottenham’s game against Brentford on Boxing Day.
