Tottenham step up £18m bid as Daniel Levy can raise £145m to revolutionise squad

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Thursday, April 8.

Spurs step up bid for Vestergaard

Tottenham have "stepped up their bid" to sign Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard this summer, according to the Express.

Jose Mourinho is prioritising the centre of his defence for the upcoming transfer window, the report claims, and with growing doubts over Inter Milan man Milan Skriniar, they have now turned to the Saints.

Vestergaard has been "fast-tracked" after another defensive horror show against Newcastle United last weekend.

The 28-year-old has been a key figure for Ralph Hasenhuttl's side this season and has reportedly earned interest from Spurs.

Levy can revolutionise Spurs squad without selling Kane

Daniel Levy can raise £145million this summer to help improve the Tottenham squad without selling their main man - Harry Kane.

Kane has been linked with a move away from Spurs, but a move away for the England captain will be the last thing the club's supporters will want to see in the summer.

We have taken a look using Transfermarkt's player valuations and have come up with how Spurs can raise some transfer funds in order to revolutionise Mourinho's squad once the season concludes.

- Dele Alli (£28.8m)

- Eric Dier (£22.5m)

- Harry Winks (£19.8m)

- Serge Aurier (£18m)

- Erik Lamela (£14.4m)

- Toby Alderweireld (£13.5m)

- Moussa Sissoko (£11.7m)

- Juan Foyth (£13m)

- Paulo Gazzaniga (£3.6m)

Clarke breaks silence after Stoke loan ends

Jack Clarke has thanked Stoke City after the youngster returned to Tottenham with his loan deal cut short due to injury.

Clarke made the temporary switch to the Potters in the January transfer window but is already back in north London after suffering ankle ligament damage last month.

The 20-year-old has now broken his silence following his return to Spurs.

He posted on Instagram: "Due to an injury setback, my time at Stoke has come to an end.

"Special thanks to everyone at the club for welcoming me in. All the best for the rest of the season @stokecity."

Clarke played 14 times - with six of them being starts and the others from the bench - for the Championship club, where he managed to register two assists.
