Tottenham youngster Troy Parrott has been told what he must improve following his first Championship start for Millwall.
Parrott is spending this season on loan with Gary Rowett's Lions, the 18-year-old in need of first-team experience early in his development.
On Wednesday night, Parrott got his first full taste of Championship football, starting for Millwall in their 1-1 draw with Reading at The Den, Jed Wallace and Lucas Joao scoring the goals.
The youngster, who missed Millwall's first 11 league games of the season through injury - played 64 minutes following his first start, adding to a substitute appearance over the weekend and a cup outing earlier in the season.
After the game, Lions boss Rowett has delivered his verdict on the youngster's performance, pinpointing what the striker will need to improve as he continues his development.
“He was bright. For an 18-year-old player to make his league debut, I thought he was excellent,” Rowett told London News Online.
“He showed what great vision he’s got, his link play was good. I’d have liked him to maybe get a little bit higher at times.
“Reading dropped really deep in the first half and there wasn’t much space, so maybe an older player with a little bit more physical presence stays higher and tries to fight in the box for those moments when it’s wide.
"That’s something that he’ll get with more games and exposure in the Championship. We need to keep him fit, because we think he’s an excellent player.”
Parrott joined Spurs in 2017 from Belvedere, making his professional debut aged 17 in 2019, since making two Premier League appearances as well as outings in the cup.
