Tottenham star Serge Aurier's brother shot and killed in France

Tottenham defender Serge Aurier's brother has been killed at the age of 26.

An individual, reported to be the Tottenham star's brother Christopher, was shot in the abdomen in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police were called to Boulevard de Thibaud in Toulouse after a man was shot outside a nightclub at around 5am local time this morning.

The man was declared dead at the hospital, with the shooter on the run from police.

The incident, as per Get French Football, was reported first by Europe 1 and Le Point.

Aurier played the full 90 minutes of Tottenham's North London Derby victory over Arsenal on Sunday.

Tottenham confirmed the news in a statement on their website at 10.30am.

It read: "The club is deeply saddened to confirm media reports that Serge Aurier’s brother passed away in the early hours of this morning.

"We are supporting Serge at this difficult time and we ask that the privacy of the player and his family is respected.

"Everybody at the club sends their sincerest condolences to Serge and his family. Our thoughts are with them all."
