Tottenham star's three-word message on the top four race after Arsenal drop points against Brighton

The race for the top four in the Premier League is effectively over.

Arsenal's draw against Brighton at home on Sunday afternoon means that the Gunners need Tottenham to lose against Everton, while they beat Burnley, and hope for an eight goal swing in the scorelines. While it may still be possible, it does make the task very unlikely.

Spurs fans would have been watching the closing stages of Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Brighton with their fingers crossed as the Gunners pushed for a winner that never came.

What Arsenal's draw against Brighton means for Chelsea and Spurs in the battle for the top four

As the boos rang out at the full-time whistle at the Emirates, not far away in North London, there would have been smiles and a sense of satisfaction at a job almost complete.

That feeling around Spurs was summed up by a tweet from defender Jan Vertonghen. It simply read "I'll take that."

The defender is due to make his comeback from a head injury for Spurs' Champions League semi final against Ajax on Wednesday, and it seems that watching the Arsenal game may have just aided his recovery.

The dropped points from Arsenal give Tottenham more breathing room to be able to concentrate on the second leg of the semi-final tie, knowing that they have all but sealed their place in the competition for next season.

It seems that Spurs fans enjoyed their player's tweet and felt similar relief as their player.
