Tottenham star's ex-teammate drops hint over loan deal ahead of January transfer deadline

Tottenham fans will be hoping to see plenty more of Bryan Gil in the remaining months of the season after a quiet start to life in N17.

Joining from Sevilla in the summer in a deal which saw Erik Lamela head in the opposite direction, the Spaniard has so far played in 19 games following his move to the capital.

Nine of the player's appearances have come from the start of games but Gil has yet to start a Premier League match for the Lilywhites, instead coming off the bench eight times so far.

Three of those have come during Antonio Conte's Tottenham tenure and the winger will be doing everything he possibly can to become a permanent fixture in the new head coach's Spurs XI.

However, it always going to be difficult for the Spain international with players such as Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn ahead of him in the pecking order as things stand.

Well, given Gil's need to increase his minutes as he looks to rediscover his top form, his former Sevilla teammate Alejandro Pozo has hinted at a possible loan move for his good friend.

“You always have another team that gives you confidence, as has happened to me, and Bryan has now signed Tottenham, although now he is not playing minutes but hey, he will go out on loan and will play and feel like a footballer again,” Pozo, who is now on loan at Almeria, told Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo (via Sport Witness ).

While it remains to be seen what will happen with Gil under Conte, Pozo has admitted that he would like a reunion with the highly-rated youngster.

“Hopefully, hopefully (laughs). If I can do something, I will do it, of course," he added

"He’s quite the footballer and I get along with him great. I already tell you that he would be delighted, because Andalusia is Andalusia. In the end it is our land and it is different for us.”
