Tottenham star explains why Man City clash was the "hardest game" he's ever played

Tottenham defender Kyle Walker-Peters has revealed that last weekend's fixture against Manchester City was the hardest game he's ever played due to their relentless pressure.

The Citizens won the home and away fixtures against Spurs last season, although Mauricio Pochettino's men did knock them out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage.

Pep Guardiola welcomed the London side to the Etihad last weekend but the scores remained level after Gabriel Jesus' late goal was disallowed by VAR for a handball by Aymeric Laporte.

Speaking after the game, Walker-Peters highlighted just how tough playing against City is, due to their "relentless" style of play.

"Honestly, I'd put that down as the hardest game I've ever played. I've never been under relentless pressure like that… never," he told the club's official website."

Walker-Peters was challenged with the difficult task of marking Raheem Sterling in just his 11th Premier League appearance but his performance was praised by teammate Harry Winks.

Winks said: "I’m really proud of Kyle. It’s a big season for him this year, he’s had a big couple of games already in the Premier League this season and now, no bigger test than playing Manchester City away and being up against Sterling, but he handled it exceptionally well.

"On the ball he has an amazing quality and he’s shown that in every game he’s played, so to go away to City and to perform as he did, it’s a big statement from him."
