Tottenham star Dele Alli issues apology after posting controversial coronavirus video on Snapchat

Dele Alli has issued an apology to Tottenham and the club's fans after he posted a heavily criticised video on Saturday which he subsequently removed.

Alli posted a video of him wearing a mask over his face on Snapchat with the message 'Corona whattt, please listen with volume'.

The England star proceeded to pan the camera to an Asian man, something which has been widely condemned amid the coronavirus which has killed 774 people worldwide.

Alli deleted the video on Saturday and has now issued a statement.

Jose Mourinho on Spurs' progress under him

"Hi guys, it's Dele. Just wanted to apologise on my behalf for the video I posted on Snapchat yesterday," Alli explained in a video on social media.

"It wasn't funny and I realised that immediately and took it down.

"I let myself down and the club. I don't want you guys to have that impression of me because it wasn't funny.

"I realised that straight away and took it down. It isn't something which should be joked about.

"I'm sending all of my love, thoughts and prayers to everyone in China."
