Tottenham do hold an interest in Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic but he is not Jose Mourinho's first-choice defensive target.
Renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest update, where it has been reiterated that the Serbian defender is keen on an exit from Florence.
The 23-year-old has around 18 months remaining on his contract with the Serie A side and will be able to start talking to clubs outside of Italy regarding a free transfer at the start of 2022.
He has made his stance clear to Fiorentina, where he is reluctant to pen a new agreement, and Spurs are among the clubs keeping tabs on the situation.
However, the Belgrade-born defender is said to not be Spurs' first-choice as a reinforcement in the heart of defence, with Lille's Sven Botman also a target.
The 21-year-old Dutch defender has also reportedly attracted interest from Liverpool but is another player Spurs have their eye on.
“Milenkovic is an interesting situation because his contract expires in two years. At the moment he doesn’t want to extend his contract and Fiorentina knows that he wants to move," he told We Are Tottenham TV.
“Let’s see if Tottenham will go for him or not, but for sure he’s appreciated. At the moment he’s not the first choice, but he is appreciated.
“Also they have some rumours about Botman, so I think in the coming months will see. But at the moment these two names are interesting Tottenham for sure.”
